Bruges: so much more than a city
Bruges is best known for its cultural and historical heritage and medieval city centre. Yet our city has so much more to offer – historically, culturally and gastronomically. The coast, the Brugse Ommeland, Ghent, Ypres and Sluis are all nearby and easy to reach from Hotel Olympia.
A small city with a big history
Recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Bruges’ historic city centre has countless sights, monuments and museums. The Belfry, the Beguinage, the Basilica of the Holy Blood and the Gruuthuse Museum are highly recommended, but there’s also modern architecture and exhibitions such as the Triennial, organised every three years.
Tip: before you visit Bruges, be sure to take a look at the Visit Bruges website.
Home of the Burgundians
For many years, Bruges was the home of the Burgundians, whose name was a byword for luxury – and you can still enjoy the good life here today. Wander the narrow streets of the city centre, explore the countless shops and stalls and escape the crowds on the green ramparts. Feeling hungry or thirsty? You’ll find a restaurant, bar or friendly terrace on every corner. Alternatively, after your visit to the city, relax in Bar O’, the cosy bar at Hotel Olympia, with a regional beer, local wine or tasty tapas selection.
Out and about by bike or on foot
Do you want to enjoy some exercise as you explore Bruges and the surrounding area? Hotel Olympia is ideal for anyone wishing to combine a visit to Bruges with a cycling or walking tour. Thanks to the signposted cycling routes, for example to Damme or the coast, and the extensive walking network, you can explore the region at your own pace. We’ll be happy to help you plan your stay!
As a guest at Hotel Olympia you can safely store your bicycle in the locked, covered shed with access control. There are 9 charging stations for e-bikes. If you don’t have your own bike, be sure to ask about our bikes for hire.
From the coast to the Westhoek
Would you like to combine your stay in Bruges with a visit to Ghent, Ypres, Sluis, Knokke or Lissewege? Hotel Olympia is just a 15-minute walk from the railway station, and there’s a bus stop 50 metres away.
